THREE thugs snatched a bag and cellphone from a woman outside a wholesale store.

They then made a run for it.

Sadly, one of the thugs (32), who had split from the other two, took a wrong turn and landed in the hands of a crowd that had been hunting them.

He was given the beating of his life by the angry people in the Rustenburg CBD, North West on Tuesday afternoon.

The thug was brought back to the scene where he and his friends robbed the woman.

The crowd took turns to moer the young man.

A passerby told Daily Sun: “These criminals target women every day, and they follow people coming from the ATMs and shops.

“This serves him right and he will learn the lesson that crime doesn’t pay.

“We are tired of thugs who rob people of their hard-earned cash. Enough is enough!”

The thug was only saved by the police.

He was rushed to hospital under police guard.

Rustenburg police spokesman Warrant Officer Ofentse Makgadi confirmed the incident.

“Police rescued a suspect from a crowd after he was accused of robbery. We are still waiting for the woman who was allegedly robbed to come forward.

“But if she doesn’t open a case, there is nothing the police can do.

“The suspect will then be freed,” said Makgadi.

“We urge people not to take the law into their own hands. They should call the cops if they see incidents of crime.”
