Saying how difficult it often is to track down and arrest criminals after they have committed a crime at a location, Minister of Police in South Africa begged criminals on Monday afternoon to at least hint the SAPS before they rob the airport.
Minister Mbalula visited the airport which has suffered several robberies recently and expressed his concerns and how frustrated he is as they are not able to track down and arrest those who rob the airport.
He was speaking on Monday afternoon at the airport following a meeting with State Security Minsiter David Mahlobo‚ Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina and Gauteng MEC for Security Safety Sizakela Nkosi- Malobane.
“SPECIALIZED POLICE UNITS WILL BE DEPLOYED TO KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE ON ANY SUSPECTED CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES.NEXT TIME, AT LEAST GIVE THE POLICE AN IDEA THAT YOU ARE COMING SO THAT THEY CAN BE READY FOR YOU. WE ARE TIRED OF LOOKING LIKE WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING. SO, CRIMINALS INTENDING TO COMMIT CRIME AT OR TAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SHOULD HINT US FIRST.” MINISTER MBALULA SAID.
Mbalula’s remarks came just hours after a truck containing valuable goods was hijacked on the highway after leaving the airport and the truck driver and his assistant held hostage. However‚ the police were able to recover the truck and the goods‚ but the robbers were able to flee the scene.
