Hi MizzB

I AM a 26-year-old man who is HIV-positive. My partner is negative. I love her and I want to protect her. So please tell me, can I infect my partner if I’m on ARVs and my CD4 count is undetectable?

Hi Curious

When the HIV virus is undetectable it simply means you are doing a great job of adhering to your treatment and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. However, IT DOES NOT MEAN THE VIRUS IS GONE!

Chances of HIV being transmitted to your partner are still present.

It’s still important to continue to take precautions by using condoms and looking into the Prep (female condom) as extra protection for your HIV- negative partner.
