SIPHO Rashidi is one angry guy!
His favourite Carvela moccasins were stolen while he was in custody for assault.
The 33-year-old from Ivory Park, near Tembisa in Ekurhuleni, said he had to walk home barefoot from a cop shop three weeks ago.
“When police at Ivory Park Police Station took us into the cells, they told us to take our shoes off,” he claimed.
“When I was released three days later, I asked for my shoes back but no one knew where they were.”
He had wanted to open a case but was sent home without getting any help.
“I want to hold the police accountable for my missing shoes,” said Sipho.
“My life revolves around those shoes.
“They were fairly new and now I feel like a part of me is missing.”
He said throughout his life, he had worn only branded clothing, but after the theft he was forced to wearplastic slippers. Ivory Park police spokesman Captain Bernard Matimulane confirmed that a pair of Carvelas went missing at the station.
“The owner of the shoes was told to open a case and no one refused to help him,” he said.
“The circumstances under which the shoes went missing were explained to him.”
Matimulane advised Sipho to open a case so the matter could be properly investigated.
