New Minister of sports and recreation in South Africa Thulas Nxesi told South African National sports teams on Sunday morning that they do not need to sing the national anthem every time they play, especially if they are going to lose. South Africans already know the anthem and they don’t need to hear it anymore, he revealed.
South African teams from now on won’t have the option of standing on the field during the playing of the national anthems; they will be restricted to the locker room.
“The thing I hate so much is that these boys would sing our national anthem and then lose. Let them rather stay in the locker room unless they are sure they are going to win. Any ways, we already know the anthem, we grew up hearing it, they don’t have to sing it every time.” Minister Nxesi said.
