Minister of home affairs announced that from 2018 every newborn in the country will have an African name.
The new law is compulsory to every race. The name must be in any original African language that is recognised by the government as an official language.
According to the minister they are going to print over 50 000 names and their meaning and make them available at every hospital to help parents who do not speak nor understand any African language.
“South Africa does not have a true African feel, this new law will make us very unique and African and we will be a big tourist nation for this.”
“There’s going to be an option where parents can let home affairs automatically add an African name on the child’s birth certificate then an SMS with the meaning of the name will be sent to the parents”
