South Africa president has unveiled his government’s plan to combat bird flu that has had a devastating impact on the poultry industry, particularly the small farmer.
The industry was already suffering from the serious competition brought on by cheap imports of chicken cuts from the US and Europe. But addressing a press conference on his government’s plan of action to curb the spread of the disease, Zuma said rolling out massive quantities of lozenges.
“We are going to roll out lozenges for these birds. It is the only way forward. Hen a person is struggling with a flu, lozenges help, and it is my government’s estimation that it will also help.”
